Watch Quilting Shows On The Internet!

QUILT SHOWS ON THE INTERNET
What is right up there with sliced bread? Watching quilt shows that you used to see only on television on the Internet! These shows are broadcast 24/7 and if you are an insomniac, like me, then this is like the icing on the cake.
It seems as though all of the television stations, including cable and satellite, are slowly removing anything that even remotely resembles a quilting show these days. The only quilting shows available in my area right now are found on the DIY Network and my local PBS station. And that is it in a nutshell! Talk about withdrawals; when HGTV quit airing Simply Quilts, I thought my daily “fix” for quilting vicariously was gone for good. But, thank goodness for the Internet! It may have its pitfalls, but it also has its blessings!
This brief article is not intended to review each of these in detail; it is merely intended to introduce you to some of the online quilt-show resources that are currently available, so please sit back, click a link, then enjoy!
- Kaye Wood Internet TV,
- The Quilt Show,
- Quilter’s News Network,
- Quilters TV (added 05/16/07),
- Simply Quilts Online.
If you are aware of additional Internet quilting show resources, please share them in the Comments!

Now you’re talkin! I don’t have cable TV, never have. So when I began quilting, shortly thereafter I saw a mention of QNN and was amazed. For at least the first year of my quilting life, I left that running while I learned quilting. My puter is right next to my worktable, so it worked just fine.
That’s where I saw so many of the cable shows being played, plus the new ones. Eventually, I’d seen them all and kinda drifted, but QNN is where my heart is.
I’ve seen 3 of The Quilt Shows now; they’re getting better as they go, and I think that’s the new way of the quilting world - internet or DVD.

I’d do more of watching quilting shows if I didn’t have two munchkins running around distractcing me LOL. I think it’s great that the shows are going onto the Internet, it gives quilters a way to keep up with shows even when they’re not at home.

Let me tell y’all a secret: I have spoken to Jodie Davis, owner of QNN, and she’s agreed to let me interview her for an article here. It’s slated to publish on June 4th.

What an awesome secret!! I can’t wait to read the interview.

I think that quilting shows on the internet is a great concept!

I’m happy to see the internet picking up some of the slack for the short-sightedness of the television/cable networks. The fact that they are accessible 24/7 is wonderful for those with a busy schedule. I’ll definitely be watching for your interview with Jody Davis.

There is another one! Quilters TV, started by the same people who started QNN! This time around they have a much larger viewing area, and are working on a number of features that will be rolled out every month. We have over 40 new programs in production and cover quilterly events all over the world!

Great!!! I’ll add that to Quilting Passion resources and go check it out.
The URL for it, btw, is: http://www.quilterstv.com/
Thanks for the info, Sue Ann!

OK, I just watched a television show on Quilters TV, with Christopher Nejman demonstrating creating decorative pillows using a sewing machine, decorative threads, fabric, ribbons, etc. The show had me mesmerized!
So, I come back here to report, and lo and behold, I see he has left a comment. Only, it went to the spam filter and I saw it just as emptied it! MY BAD!!!!!!! Gosh, it doesn’t pay to work fast, at times. My humble apologies to him… and to all of you, who are now missing his comments.
Nice big screen to watch, btw.

These internet quilt shows make me want to buy a bigger, better monitor for my ‘puter. I know some folks hook it up to their tv but I’m not that computer savvy. I do hope some of these shows will start offering closed captioned. Thanks for the links, Terry. I’ll have to check them out when I have more time.

Another update! I have been speaking with Sue Ann Taylor with Quilters TV and she has agreed to an interview, also! It’s slated for June 11th!
Have I mentioned that I love quilting and writing and combining the two is very rewarding? The downside? Writing really cuts into my quilting time!!!!!
Keep a watchful eye for an interview with Sue Ann!

Hi Terry
I wanted to thank you so much for spreading the word about all the diverse quilting shows on the internet. We have audiences from all over this wide world.
Being able to talk to people around the world of different cultures, countries, styles of sewing is the most wonderful feeling!! I realized I was not alone in the type of work I do and can share.
I have learned and seen so much from my viewers around the world since my shows have aired.
I have my own series on http://www.quilterstv.com where I teach contemporary home dec pillows incorporating many quilting techniques in a modern approach. Thanks for helping to get the word out!!!
Also, thanks to all the viewers who have watched my shows bought my book and made my book the number one best seller so far this year in the sewing world!!!! all because of the internet shows!!!
And thanks to Sue Ann Taylor for starting this wonderful sewing media world!!! Everything you see in sewing on these new programs all stemmed from her seed. I am so proud to be in her company of this brilliant media come to life for us all!

I’ve just spent a while - a couple of hours - watching Quilters TV. Wow! I particularly appreciate having real shows to watch, instead of a seemingly endless string of mini-infomercials. And I can watch them on demand!
I like it. I really like it.

As I watched Christopher Nejman making a pillow a couple of days ago, he made it seem so easy that even I could do it! I have now added, to my ever-growing list, a quilting project that includes embellishments.
He also demonstrated how to put in an invisible zipper. I think I could do that now!
It’s one thing to see something on the Internet in print, see it in a magazine, or hear about it… but, to me, it makes all the difference in the world to be able to actually watch the process. And that’s exactly what the quilting shows “televised” on the Internet allow me to do.
