Terry’s Thoughtful Thursday - August 2 2007

ReAlLy RaNdOm ThOuGhTs
I can hardly believe it is Thursday! I have thought all day that it was Tuesday!
There are so many thoughts running around in my head that if I listed all of them, it would do nothing but confuse you! So, here are a few thoughts and some random tidbits for you to ponder upon.
Here is what I have in the works. First, I have a charity quilt ready to bind, that Wilma (NC) has graciously volunteered to bind for me. Second, I have a commisioned quilt to begin. Third, I have an order of labels to fill. And fourth, I have an order of fabric noodles to fill! The first, third, and fourth need to happen within the next week.
Now for a few interesting tidbits!
- Are you a fan of Eleanor Burns? Read a little about how her “Quilt In A Day” is growing, piece by piece!
- Mary Emma Allen also shares some information regarding Eleanor Burns and her books!
- Painting barns with quilts is becoming increasingly popular! For an interesting read, check out the The Country Barn Quilt Trail in Kendall, NY.
- Need an essential guide about what types of fabric make for good quilting? Wade Robins shares some information!
- Do you like reading quilt blogs (like this one!)? If so, a unique idea is to “Pay It Forward“!
Hope each of you have a wonderful day. Be sure to pay it forward!

Hello Terry,
Thank you for referring to my post at Quilting and Patchwork about Eleanor Burns. She has built an amazing business. I’ve also written about her at my Home Biz Notes blog. I thought she’d be an inspiration to home business owners if they had a desire to develop a business that grows beyond their home.
I like your Really Random Thoughts theme.

Thanks, Mary Emma!
I had the honor of meeting Eleanor in OK City during a huge snow/ice storm in January of this year. Not many were there, so about 5-6 of us ladies had her all to ourselves! It was a wonderful time.
I enjoy reading about her and also enjoy reading your site!

I really like Eleanor Burns patterns and rulers. I had the opportunity to take a class at her shop a couple of years ago. It was a wonderful experience.

Thanks for the info about Eleanor Burns. I haven’t made anything of hers yet but have heard many great things. Maybe this is the push I need to try something of hers.

Eleanor Burns, as well as my mother, has been the reason that I got into quilting. I learn so much from her and always enjoy her little history lessons about the quilt that she is working on. I’ve watched many others on TV, but Eleanor is the reason I’m quilting now. My mother developed macular degeneration and had to stop sewing about the time I decided to get serious about it, so I guess you could say that Eleanor picked up where she left off.
One of these days I would love to meet Eleanor to thank her for inspiring me to quilt and teaching me so much. She is a joy to watch.
Thanks Eleanor!!
